Lyla (9 at the time but now 10)was diagnosed with CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) also known as the “suicide disease” in March of 2021 unexpectedly. There is no cure for this disease. It causes excruciating pain. And even the simple touch of a hand can lead her to scream. Her foot is cool to the touch and is often purple or red. She can't walk on it any longer and can no longer engage in sports and activities. She got to the point of begging to go to a hospital and even wishing she was dead. After initial treatments stopped working it was suggested she should be in an intensive in-patient program. There are none local for kids her age. Eventually, her story caught the attention of a national movement. Lyla rarely is able to go a full week or day at school anymore. She is strong though and finds baking helps take her mind off of the pain. You can help her by trying her amazing cookies @lylasdreambakery
